Our league formed in Dorset over a decade ago.
Our members collectively have many more years of skating experience than that!

Everyone can skate with us!
We welcome all genders, abilities, and ages above 18 years old.
We believe that trans rights are human rights, and we stand firm in our support of LGBTQIA+ communities.

Our History
Where we've come from
2014
Our league is founded as 'Dorset Knobs Roller Derby'.
A pun on the famous regional savoury biscuit and... well, you know.
It was the mid 2010s, forgive us.
We used the bold yellow and red of the Dorset flag as our first branding colours.
2016
We have our first ranked bout against Bristol Men's (it was a close, 3-point game!)
2017
We compete in our first 5 Nations (then known as British Championships) tournament in Tier 3 and we came second 🥈
We skate in the Bourne Free Pride Parade for the first time 🏳🌈
2018
We have another lovely year in 5 Nations Tier 3 tournament, and come first 🥇
2020 - 2021
Covid happened - remember that?
We stopped playing roller derby for a while and stayed inside.
2024
We remove 'Knobs' from our name (it's been ten years and we've grown up... a bit) to become Dorset Roller Derby.
Our team travels to Copenhagen to take part in the Swarming Se7ens tournament for the first time!
2025
We have a successful year in the 5 Nations Tier 3 tournament, winning all our games 🎉
2026
Our team votes on a rebrand and new colours! Our branding team also designs a new logo and our new bout tops.
We launch our new look in May.
The Dorset Ooser
The story of our logo
The Ooser has its roots in Dorset folklore, used to give people a light scare during village festivities, and to reproach those who had behaved immorally.
The Ooser mask represents a mythical creature, half‐human and half‐beast, with a third eye and a hinged lower jaw.
Much of its history is mysterious, with only replica masks existing of the original.
With deep roots in Dorset and appreciation for its unique history, Dorset Roller Derby carries on the imagery and legend of the Ooser in its logo.
